The Rock (Dwayne Johanson) Biography :
Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972), formerly known by his stage name The Rock, is a former professional wrestler and currently works as an actor. He is best known for his appearances in World Wrestling Entertainment. Johnson held the WWF/E Championship a WWE record seven times, one more than the previous record-holder Hulk Hogan. He is considered to be one of the most popular wrestlers of all time and is considered a future WWE Hall of Fame inductee.
Following his movie acting debut in Longshot as the mugger, he had a minor part in The Mummy Returns then went on to star in The Scorpion King, The Rundown, Walking Tall, Be Cool, Doom, and recently in Gridiron Gang.
Johnson first gained mainstream fame as a standout in the World Wrestling Federation (now “World Wrestling Entertainment”). Before becoming The Rock, he was known as Rocky Maivia, in homage to his father, Rocky Johnson, and his maternal grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia (both of whom were also wrestlers, making Johnson the first third generation wrestler in the history of the WWF). After largely retiring from the ring to begin his acting career in 2002, Johnson retained the name “The Rock”.

The Rock is Canadian on his father’s side. His father, Rocky Johnson, is a native of Amherst, Nova Scotia.

During a practice scene in the movie Gridiron Gang, Rock can be seen paying tribute to his college career by wearing the number 94, which is the number that he wore during his time with the Miami Hurricanes.
The logo for the Mustangs in the movie Gridiron Gang is the same one used by the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. Ironically, The Rock tried out for and was subsequently cut by the Stampeders in 1994 while he was still better known by his given name, Dwayne Johnson.
In his first semester at the University of Miami, he earned a .7 GPA.
The Rock scored a nomination for “Favorite Male Action Star” at the People’s Choice Awards in 2006. [wikipedia]
